Post 9: How Do I Feel?

(The date of this social media post: Dec. 1, 2015)

I had an experience I would like to share with you. I think it may be of some direct benefit to you. This experience also inspired the above meme.

Early one morning, I was sitting on the couch when the voice/thought of my Higher Self whispered, “How do you feel?”

I looked inside myself. As I was looking at the thoughts, feelings, and inner mood there, the voice said emphatically, “No! How do YOU feel?”

Immediately my attention was directed out of my body to the space around me. The voice then said, “That is how you feel!”

As I looked on space—its peace, its stillness, its changelessness, I felt the relief of escaping the body and the noise and heaviness of the ego mind.

On most mornings since then, when my attention gets sucked into my personal psychology and inner commentary—“my story,” I have this wonderful aha moment where I realize I no longer have to figure out “how I feel” in all that ever-changing inner clutter. I remember to look at the peace and stillness—the life of space itself that surrounds me—what I call “the River.” And I realize on a very deep, heartfelt level, “That is how I feel!”

This movement of putting our attention on space and identifying with it is the portal to a new world—the world of our magnitude. And how familiar it feels as we return home.

You may ask, “But what about this undeniable experience of the body in space and time? What about this very real feeling of ‘me?’ It cannot be denied.” Yes, it is here. Yes, the body still resonates with an identity. We are a being that exists on many levels. That is the beauty of where we are and what we are. Now we find ourselves in this amazing time of transformation, where The Christ, the Self is revealing Itself beyond form but is integrating into this physical dimension— into our bodies as well and into the very core of our sense of self. More and more the body, with its unique essence and personality, is being infused with spirit.

Meher Baba said that this physical plane was the highest plane because here you could experience all the manifestations of God. It’s important to remember that he was speaking as an enlightened being, one who was free of the burden of identifying himself with a body and ego sense of self. He could experience the physical life as an effect—an extension of the Mind or Self into form—into this time/space dimension to play, to express and create, to love, and above all, to point to God.

As you experience this inner transformation of light, have fun as you also look out beyond your body to this new face of your Self. Spend a few moments, better yet, a few hours being introduced to your glorious Self. Discover how beautiful and incredible you really are.
